Jean Chalopin (born May 31, 1950) is a French businessman, banker, and former television animation producer [1][2]. He is best known for founding the production company DIC Entertainment in 1971, which created numerous successful children's animated television series [1]. Career#
In 1968, Chalopin established an advertising company called Office de Gestion et d'Action Publicitaire (OGAP) [1]. Three years later, in 1971, he founded DIC Entertainment, a production company specializing in animated television and film productions oriented toward children [1]. Through DIC, Chalopin produced many successful television series, including Inspector Gadget, which he co-created, The Real Ghostbusters, The Littles, and Dennis the Menace [1][3]. Chalopin also co-wrote DIC's first two major productions, Ulysses 31 and The Mysterious Cities of Gold [1].After selling his ownership in DIC, Chalopin founded a second company, C&D, in 1987 [1].
